Sold

Guess we'll be saying goodbye to Sammie very, very soon. But at least we made our $$ back on her.

Officially on Pause

The Scrambler is officially on pause until ... who knows when. But that's because, while I was in Florida for work, Aaron bought me another bike -- one that runs! I have had my first lesson, which went OK and resulted in bruises from the pegs as I walked the new bike around. I haven't yet named the new bike. I'm still fiddling with its personality, I think. In any case, it's a 1981 Kawasaki KZ440. Pictures to come.

Lack of progress

As you can tell, the bike project is not going very well, or it's not going anywhere. It's just so hard when we need to work on it at Aaron's parents' house -- an hour away. We were hoping that Aaron would be able to work on it while I was in Florida, but he had to help his dad with his dad's RV, so ... I think this weekend is also going to be filled up.

It seems that learning to ride this summer may not happen. Maybe we'll buy a house and be able to finish it this year. There's really not that much to do in order for me to ride. And that means I'm further from my Stella.

Painting the frame delayed

We were going to paint the frame today -- see, it's all ready -- but there were some questions about the wind and where we could do it. So I guess Aaron's doing it while I'm in Pittsburgh. What a wonderful boyfriend!

Working on the frame

Aaron's cleaning the frame ... Looks fun, huh?

And here's the clean(ish) frame.

Making some progress

Aaron and I stayed over at his parents' house on Saturday, so that we could get up early and work on Sammie. I know it doesn't seem like it, but we're making progress.

And yes, this is turning into a bigger project than we had wanted. I've started calling this the "good enough" bike. As in, do these fenders look good enough?

It's really getting to the point that I just want to ride the stupid thing!

Oh, Sammie, I'm sorry. You're not stupid. Just a little decrepit.

And here are the nice shiny fenders I worked so hard to make pretty.

Aaron's cleaning my bike. Hmmm... something's missing. What is it?

Oh, I know. The engine.

And here they are together. Maybe someday, they'll really be back together.
